Zidscore.com-England are not the favorites to win Euro 2024. Even though they made it to the final, their opponent, Spain, is considered superior. So, the match is believed to not be easy for Gareth Southgate's squad.

England's progress to the Euro 2024 final has been quite sluggish. From the start, their performance has been mediocre. Gareth Southgate has also been heavily criticized. However, England continues to show progress from match to match.

In the group stage, England miraculously managed to finish as Group C champions with only 5 points. They only won once, drew twice.

Then, in the knockout stages, England were fortunate to have players like Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka and Harry Kane. They always conceded first, but eventually won.

While Entering the Final

The Euro 2024 final is a sweet note for the England National Team itself. Throughout history, this is the first time England has advanced to the final of a major tournament played on foreign soil, aka not on English soil itself.

England's progress was also praised by former player, Gary Neville. He believes that Southgate's squad is now in the leading position to win.

"An extraordinary achievement, reaching the final again is proof of their good performance. Now they have to finish it. How many times has England had the chance to reach the final? I myself have never felt it," said Neville.

Spain Strong, but England Destined to be Champions

Neville admitted that the final match will not be easy. Spain is still stronger and more convincing than England. However, he is sure that signs of England winning are starting to appear.

"Spain, initially not many people favored them, but they are the best team so far and play the best football," said Neville.

"So it is clear that England have to work hard, but it feels like something will happen. Things like going in England's favor and that builds the players' confidence," he concluded. (*)
