No Need to Look for Excuses, MU Lost in Preseason and Deserves Criticism!

Zidscore.com-Erik ten Hag does not want to protect Manchester United players after suffering a humiliating defeat in the first pre-season match. Although the players are not fully fit, a team of MU's level should still be able to win.

Monday, June 15, 2024 evening WIB, MU began their pre-season tour to Norway. They faced Rosenborg at Lerkendal Stadion, Trondheim.

Ten Hag fielded more young players in this match, although there were still some senior players such as Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Unfortunately, MU allowed their opponents to play more dominantly throughout the match, until finally Noah Holm scored the home team's winning goal in the 90+3 minute.

United's Standards Must Be Higher

It is true that results are not usually considered as important in pre-season games. However, Ten Hag is not willing to let this defeat pass him by.

United's players may not have reached the required level of 'match-fit', but they should not have lost to a team like Rosenborg.

"In top-level football, you have to reach a higher standard. That starts with each individual, they have to make sure they are fit," said Ten Hag.

"I know the players are not match fit at the moment, that's why pre-season games are needed. I know we are facing opponents in the league who are at a higher level of fitness."

"But we are still Manchester United, and the players, the United team have to give a better performance," he added.

MU Goalkeeper Stands Out

Not all MU players performed badly. This match was an opportunity for young goalkeeper Radek Vitek who got the chance to make some saves.

"Let's just say he got the chance from the team to make some important saves, because our performance as a team so far has not been good enough," concluded Ten Hag.
